Subject: Office 11 beta 2 coming

Microsoft is reportedly planning to release a new
test version of its upcoming Office suite next month. The
company announced the first beta of the so-called Office
11 last October. While the first test was only shipped
to some 12,000 testers, the second beta is likely to be
more widely available, targeting mainly enterprise customers.

DirectX 9 is barely out of the cage but the attention
is already turning to the follow-up version, DirectX 9.1.
The upgrade will reportedly be introduced at this year's

A new cumulative patch for IE was not the only topic
discussed in Microsoft's security website yesterday. The
company also informed about an important flaw affecting
Windows XP. According to the company, there is an unchecked
buffer in Windows Redirector could allow privilege elevation.

two newly discovered flaws

Microsoft released yesterday a new cumulative patch
for Internet Explorer. The last patch of this kind for
the browser was made available last December. This time,
the fix covers all previously released patches plus two
